Today we went to another palace called Fontainebleau. In the front courtyard it has a big horse shoe shaped stair case to the front doors. This horse shoe shape became sort of the symbol for this palace.
Here you can see how ornate and decorative the ceilings were, with magnificent chandeliers everywhere. This is one of the few places we have been allowed to take pictures inside.
I really like these chairs. They are so elegant, yet they are still very simply shaped without too much decor and frazzle.
Here is the funniest fountain I have ever seen! If ya can't tell, the water is coming from the dogs...you get the picture!
The next place we went to was called Vaux le Vicomte. This palace was owned by Nicholas Fouqet and King Louis XIV got really jealous of it. Nicholas always threw huge parties at this palace, and one night after a huge party the jealousy of the King became too much. So the next morning the king had Nicholas arrested and thrown in prison. Nicholas never was released and ended up dieing in prison.
